The Stratton Guitars shop is located in the historic mining town of Nogal, NM. The shop building itself has an interesting history. In 1899 nearby Fort Stanton became a military hospital for the Marines. The facilities were used to house TB patients as New Mexico was believed to have an ideal climate to treat the disease. Small villages of cabins were built in the early 1900s to house patients while they recovered. After being retired from service these cabins were sold and scattered around the surrounding area. This building is one of the few that survives today.
